Why this exists
I started this project to help my grandfather with his family chart. About a year ago he began tracking the family in an Excel sheet, and it soon became too complex to keep adding people to. I also wanted to ensure that a solution was simple enough to use and did not share any family information with third-party companies.
After a few months of work I was able to gift him a framed fan chart of his family: his parents in the middle, reaching out to some of his siblings’ great-grandchildren.
He passed away on 12 September 2026. I am thankful that he was able to see his work visualised before his passing. The app is free and will stay free, and it keeps every family it holds on the machine it was typed on.
Consider a donation in his memory
At his funeral we gathered donations for the Center for Preventive Paediatrics in Cyprus instead of flowers. The Center was founded in 1988 on the initiative of the “Theotokos – Americos Argyriou” Foundation and its then-President, the paediatrician Dr. Amerikos Argyriou, a close family friend of my grandfather.
If this app has helped you with your own family, please consider donating to the foundation, with the note “In memory of Andreas Laos”. They do great work, which you can find out more about via the link below.
The donation page is run by the Center, not by this app. It opens in a new tab, and nothing about your archive goes with you.
